Easily Grow Your Own Garlic
Once you taste home-grown garlic, you won't be satisfied with supermarket varieties
by Ruth Lively
Garlic isn’t hard to grow. In fact, growing garlic plants is almost ridiculously easy. It has a few important requirements that are easily met: decent soil, adequate moisture, and, of course, planting and harvesting at the right time.
When is the right time for planting garlic? Plant garlic four to six weeks before the ground freezes in your area. You can fudge the planting time a little. I have planted as early as September (by mistake) and as late as Thanksgiving (to experiment) and have had decent crops. Roots will start to grow soon after you plant. Your aim is to get good root development before the plants go dormant. Green shoots may appear in the fall, which is fine.

The two schools are set to sign an agreement in a ceremony Dec. 17, formalizing their partnership. CCM graduates and others with associate degrees will be able to earn Rutgers baccalaureate at CCM's Randolph and Morristown locations, according to an announcement from CCM.
Program participants can also take courses at other Rutgers University locations. Rutgers staff will also offer on-site academic advising at CCM, according to the announcement.
The program will launch with majors planned in psychology, journalism, criminal justice, graphic design and public and non-profit administration, according to the announcement. More majors will be offered in the future, it said.

Rutgers already has degree-completion partnerships with Atlantic Cape Community College, Brookdale Community College, Mercer Community College and Raritan Valley Community College.
"The partnership between CCM and Rutgers will expand opportunities for Northern New Jersey residents to complete a bachelor of arts or a bachelor of science degree through Rutgers, while making CCM a more comprehensive destination for lifelong learning and professional development," CCM said in the announcement.
Rutgers tuition rates will apply.
“We at County College of Morris are delighted to enter into this partnership with Rutgers. The agreement will allow us to serve Morris County and Northern New Jersey in an even greater capacity," the school's president, Edward Yaw, said in a statement sent to NJ.com. "We are happy to give the region’s residents the ability to receive Rutgers baccalaureate degrees at CCM in the five initial areas, and are excited to expand into additional majors in the future.”
